Are you ready to advocate more effectively?
Do any of these sound familiar:
- You dread IEP meetings and having to talk to your student's team.
- You want to organize your IEP documents, but you just cant seem to get yourself to do it.
- You want to advocate for more services/inclusion/better goals for your child, but it's so overwhelming.
- You want to stop yelling and being frustrated about your child's behavior.
- You want to stop feeling guilty about how you parent.
- Your wellness or relationships are suffering due to your stress level.
You'll have the greatest success if you:
- Are ready to make a change.
- Are willing to put in some work. Change doesn’t happen magically, you do have to take action, but we'll work together to figure out which actions to prioritize. My aim isn't to put more on your to do list, it's to help you decide what are the RIGHT things to have on your to do list.
- Are looking for more confidence in your advocacy and your parenting.
My Core Process:
There are three pillars to being an effective parent advocate. There are places where you can build your legal knowledge about IEPs and Special Education. But beyond knowledge, you need to have these things in place so that your advocacy is sustainable and doesn't lead to overwhelm and burn out:
- Courage and Confidence to ask for what you want, to advocate, to negotiate
- Emotional Resilience to handle the stress, disappointment and frustration that so often comes with advocacy
- Organization to set yourself up with a system to address your child's educational goals and make your advocacy manageable over the long term.
